Water Rowing Machines FAQs

How effective is a water rowing machine workout?

Unlike regular rowers which use air or magnetic resistance to create tension, water rowers use actual water to create resistance. This more accurately replicates the feeling of being out on the water, creating a more enjoyable workout, and engaging a wider range of muscle groups to burn calories more efficiently.

What is a rowing machine good for?

Water rowers are a great addition to any home gym, regardless of the fitness goals you’re aiming for.

Rowing is a full-body workout that targets your legs, core, arms, and back all at once, making them a great way to keep your fitness and strength up. They’re also low-impact, making them gentler on your joints than some other cardio machines, like treadmills.

Water rowers automatically adjust resistance based on how hard you work—the harder you row, the more the water resists the action, and the harder your work-out becomes without ever needing to stop and adjust the settings. You can also adjust the amount of water in the tank to mimic the boat sitting lower in the water if you like.

How long should you work out on a rowing machine?

The best way to achieve your fitness goals is to stay consistent. This means doing the work often, rather than occasionally doing one big workout. You can start with 10 minutes a day around four times a week, and slowly work up to around 30 minutes a day. Four to six times a week is ideal, because it’s important to maintain rest days to let your body recover!
