Collection: Hand Weights

Hand weights, also called free weights, are simply weights that you can pick up with your hands. They come in a number of forms, including dumbbells, barbells and kettlebells. This category of weights also includes the relatively small and light weights that you might use in an aerobics class or on a walk, to increase the intensity of your workout.

Hand weights have long been a strength and conditioning staple. From Olympic lifts that focus on power, to added-weight cardio exercises that increase endurance, hand weights are a flexible and fun form of workout equipment.

At GymQuip we offer a complete range of hand weights from our Canberra store, which is Australia’s largest fitness showroom. We sell an even larger range of fitness equipment online, which we can ship to your door anywhere in Australia. All orders are backed by our generous shipping and returns policy and our price beat guarantee.

Are hand weights effective?

Hand weights are most certainly effective. They are ultra-flexible pieces of exercise equipment that can be used any number of different ways to help you increase your strength, speed, endurance, mobility, balance and more.

What are the different types of hand weight sets?

Hand weight sets come in a number of different shapes and sizes. Lightweight hand weights usually weigh just a few kilograms and are used to add difficulty and intensity to cardio workouts. Dumbbells can be used to increase strength and muscle mass. Barbells are great for developing power, strength and conditioning. Swinging a kettlebell, meanwhile, can work muscles that you can’t reach with traditional free weights.
